Weymouth Angling Society are once again running the Inter schools Team League for junior anglers this summer, and all local schools are invited to enter as many teams of up to four anglers as they wish.
The competitions are usually fished on the second Monday of the month starting in April and running through to November, eight competitions in all, the fishing starts at 6.45 and finishes at 8.00, the presentation for each competition then takes place at the Weymouth Angling Society clubhouse in Commercial road (opp. Debenhams on the harbour side) at about 8.45
We have two sections, junior's schools and senior schools, each member of the winning team on the night in each section will receive a voucher for £10 and each member of the runners up in each section a voucher for £6,50, This will be our sixth year of running this competition and we very
pleased that the Weymouth Angling Centre have again offered to be our main sponsor, along with other local businesses. These are Billy Short building Services, S.J.M.Catering(Steve Male), Broadway Bathrooms & Kitchens(Trad Casey) and Lodmoor Pitch & Putt.
We have over £1000 to use in prize vouchers, and this year local business man Mr Mike De Bear as offered to put up a prize of £200 to the winning school in each section, this will be in the form of vouchers and can be used for any type of school equipment the school needs, ie sporting equipment, books, IT equipment or benches for the school grounds the choice is up to the winning school.
There is no entry Fee for the competitions as all organizers and helpers give up time freely and are only too willing to help and offer advise if needed. But because the competitions are run by Weymouth Angling Society we ask that each junior joins the Society so they will be covered by the Societies insurance, this costs £2 and membership is for the club year.
