Once again all seven teams turned up to fish the third of the four monthly team competitions and again it was a very busy afternoon, right from the start the fish came in thick and fast and the helpers were kept busy unhooking and recording the fish before they were returned back to the water alive.

A total of 899 fish were caught in just two hours by the twenty ladies with the winning team ‘Squidettes ( Rose Cheeseman, Sue Butterworth and Clare Setterfield) catching 191 of them, the second team ‘ The Three Amigo’s ( Sharon Bedwell, Denise Davies and Linda Boggust) caught just three less for 188 ,

In third place we had ‘Angling for It (Dee Weeding, Toria Weeding and Hayley Guille) with 155 only 7 fish in front of fourth place ‘The Happy Hookers’(Kate Smith, Celia Canter and Hannah Matthews) .

In fifth place we had The Terrible ‘Ts’( Tish Mullins, Toni Pay and Sarah Wright) with 122 fish with ‘Juicy Shuchi & the Pink Pengwhims’ ( Angie Oswald, Michelle Reid and Camilla Hulme), in sixth place with 62 fish, leaving Clair Horn and Charlotte Hulme of the ‘pollocks Win Prizes, with 33 fish.

Many thanks to the over worked helpers but it was a good day and we will do it all again on Sunday 8 th October again on the Stone pier 16.00hrs to 18.00hrs after which a tackle teach in will be held at the Weymouth Angling Society club house and the prize presentation will be held on Friday 13 th at approx 22.00 hrs.

Six teams turned up to fish the first ever ladies team and what may have been missing in angling knowledge was more than made up in enthusiasm, a total of almost 500 fish were caught by the and they certainly kept the helpers busy.
Top team for this first competition were the The Squidettes, the team members ( Rose Cheeseman, Sue Butterworth and Clare Heard) caught 118 fish to become the league leaders. Second team the'Angling for It' team made of Dee Weeding, Toria Weeding and Sue Buckly caught 92 fish.
Juicy Shushi and the Pink Pengwims came third with 89 fish and just 6 fish behind we had 'The Three Amigos' in fourth spot, fifth place went to 'The Terrible Ts' with 70 fish and 'The Happy Hookers' came in sixth with 30 fish.


Although the fish caught were small each counted for one point and any fish above the clubs minimum size list are weighed and awarded one point per ounce, and are returned to the water alive.


Species caught included Pout, Ballan and Corkwing Wrasse, Pollock, and various members of the Goby family.
