Monday 4th July 2005
With very few mackerel and gar being caught most of the juniors are fishing along the sides of the pier, most of the younger members are having great fun catching small pout and wrasse and having little competitions amongst themselves.
In the under 12's Kathleen and Steven Buik were neck and neck for much of the evening with Steven having the most fish but Kathleen beating him because she had a weighable wrasse, Will Medcraft came 3rd with 23 fish points and Jake Smith in 4th place with 21 fish points.

Thirty-Seven juniors turned up to fish Monday evenings Competition and although it was a good tide it was spoilt by a strong southerly wind, most of the over 12's went for mackerel on the end of the pier but they were disappointed as only 2 were caught and only 6 of the 20 over 12's caught any fish at all, it was left to the juniors that fished the sides of the pier to keep the helpers busy.
Andy Shorter got it right on the night with a bag of 18 small wrasse and blennies, to come first, Ben Peach and Nick Povall came joint second with both of them catching a single mackerel.

On a pleasant evening 40 juniors turned up for the third competition in the Junior Summer League (highest yet), with many of the over 12's electing to fish on the end of the pier in the hope that the mackerel and gar would be on the feed it was left to the rest to go for pout and small wrasse along the sides of the pier.
And it was from the along the sides that the suprise of the night came, Jim Miller (12) fishing for only the third time since joining the club hooked into a big Ballan Wrasse, as always we had a drop net with us and soon landed the fish on the pier, it weighed 5lb (2.267kg) and after photo's had been taken it was returned back to the water alive.

During the rest of the competition we had over a dozen mackerel (Tom Kitchen caught 4), no garfish, plenty of pout to 6oz, small wrasse (Ballan and Corkwing) and Jordan Rolls caught a good 3 bearded rockling of 9oz.

Monday 18th April 2005
On the first competition of this years league an amazing 39 juniors turned out to fish, and right from the start the fish came on the feed keeping the helpers busy removing hooks and returning fish back to the water.
Each small fish counts for one point and if a fish is above the clubs minimum size for that species it is weighed and one point per ounce is awarded, at the end of the night the angler with the most fish pointsis adjudged the winner and is awarded 30 points, second gets 25 points and third 22 points and so on.
Tom Wrigth was the top under 12 on the night with 14 fish points (including a Corkwing Wrasse of 5oz), second place was shared by Domonic Hatton, Nathan Ward and first time angler Jessica Lelliott each with 10 fish points.
