Monday 11th June 07 STONE PIER
Once again all eighteen teams turned out to fish the Weymouth Angling Centre and Weymouth Angling Society Inter School competition on what was a very pleasant evening, and it was a busy evening for the helpers with plenty of fish to keep the young anglers happy.
Again some of the senior team sent a least one of their team to the end of the pier after the mackerel and gar and again it paid off for ‘The Hollies’ with Andy Shorter getting 3 mackerel to bump up the team total, James Lane of ‘The Portland pirates’ also got among the Mackerel and landed 3 for the team, the final result for the senior section was in first place with a total of 80 fish points ‘The Hollies’ (Aaron Baber, Andy Shorter, Jamie McCready and Alex Graham).
In second place with a total of 40 ½ fish pointswe had ‘The Portland Pirates’ (Jamie Neilson, Aaron Neilson, Megan Neilson and James Lane), in third place with 30 fish points we had ‘Real Deals’(Peter Cashman, Harry Williams, Lloyd Briggs and James Grice) and fourth place with 28 ½ fish points were ‘The Pouters’ Max Wright, Luke bedwell, Nathan Ward and Sophie Davies).
The Junior schools league was very close with the four young girls from Manor Park (Manor Park Maggots- Esme Selby, Abbey Stevens, Ellie Stevens and Izzy Archibald) finishing just one fish point in front of ‘The fantastic 4’ (Sam Short, Ryan Casey, Tommy Butterworth and Billy Lewis) for Radipole Junior School 43 to 42,
Third place went to ‘The Spidermen’ from Underhill (Billy Austin, Conner Aitkin, Jon Archibald and Andrew Monelle) with 19 ½ Fish points and in fourth place ‘The Triple A & C’ (Ashley Reece, Aaron Cox, Carl Wood and Adrian Bevan)
Monday 14th May 07 STONE PIER
Eighteen teams turned out to fish the first of this summers Inter School competitions on what was a pleasant evening after the rain on Sunday, and it was a busy evening for the helpers with plenty of fish to keep the young anglers happy.
While most of teams fished together along the sides of the pier others had an angler out at the end of the pier to try for mackerel and it certainly paid off for Andy Shorter of the ‘HOLLIES’ who caught 6 and his total for the team was 59 ½ fish points out of the team total of 102, and team mate Aaron Baber also did well with a silver eel of 1lb 6oz for 22 fish points.
The second team in the senior section was the ‘PORTLAND PIRATES’ who collected 37 ½ fish points which included a shore rockling of 7 ½ oz caught by Jamie Neilson, in third place we had ‘CRAZY COD’ with 18 fish points and in fourth place we had ‘REAL DEALS’.
The junior section was a bit of a disappointment with only four teams fishing, the problem seems to be that many of last years juniors are now at the senior schools, still the teams that fished did very well with last years winning team who changed the name to ’FANTASTIC FOUR’ and carried on with their winning ways to total 42 fish points, in second place we had a team of four young girls from Manor Park and called them selves ‘MANOR PARK MAGGOTS’ they finished with 25 ½ fish points,
Third place went to the ‘SPIDER MEN’ with 14 fish points and in fourth place were ‘TRIPLE A & C’ with 9 fish points.
Species caught included Mackerel, Silver eel, Pout. Ballan & Corkwing Wrasse, Scorpion fish and Gobies.
